The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie
This book is certainly interesting. One of the main themes is that Miss Brodie is using her knowledge to create girls with the same thoughts and morals. She is molding them at a young age. At one point she says, "Give me a girl at an impressionable age, and she is mine for life" (pg. 6). Obviously these girls are very young and naive so they will believe and follow her no matter what. I also thought it was interesting that she Miss Brodie knows what she is doing, believes in what she is doing, but also knows that it would be considered wrong and supports hiding it. She instructs the girls not to say anything that reveals information. On page 10 she says, "Speech is silver but silence is golden".

Do you agree with her teaching methods? To me, it seemed more like brain-washing than genuine teaching. I didn't like that she wanted her students to be silent instead of being strong independent girls that could openly voice their opinions.
